Sometimes we need to break to find ourselves again.
The other day I was watching an interview with a very famous actor in Colombia and he was talking about failure as a new opportunity to be reborn. We live clinging to the idea that if we don't win we are losers, when the real triumph is in enjoying the process and learning.
Learning? Yes, learning to make mistakes. Learning new knowledge, but above all, learning to manage the mountain of emotions that the journey generates in us.
A journey that can be happy, stressful, fun, painful, difficult... And when I talk about a journey, I am referring to all kinds of situations in which you may find yourself: a relationship your work, your family, your friendships.
The first thing you have to understand is that not everyone is like you. You can't expect your partner not to hurt you, because you wouldn't do it. Your neighbour throws rubbish on your doorstep and thinks he has done nothing wrong. Yet you're dying of anger and don't think I'm excusing it. Even I would be very angry.
It is expectations that lead us into the void and leave us with a gaping emptiness. They break us down to tears. And it is there, after accepting and navigating the pain, that we must look for the why of this moment. Nothing in life just happens.
And you may ask yourself, is it necessary to hit rock bottom, to feel this way I feel? Sometimes it is. Sometimes our hearts have to break to let new light in. Open the door to that light. You will heal, I promise.
With gratitude,
Caro
